Longitude Wine Preserve

Are you fed up of pouring half-finished bottles of wine down the sink because they don't last more than a couple of days? There are some days when we don't have a problem finishing a bottle on the same day we opened it, but if it's mid-week and we want a glass of something nice, it's reassuring to know there's now a way of ensuring your wine stays 'fresh as a daisy' for over a week!

The Longitude Wine Preserve is a simple preservation system that uses the properties of Argon gas.

How does it work?

Argon is a natural non-toxic, non-flammable, tasteless gas - it's in the air we breath everyday. The beauty of Argon is that it's an inert gas, which means it doesn't chemically react with other elements (including oxygen) so it's ideal for preserving wine and food as it won't affect the flavour. When added to a bottle of wine, the inert Argon pushes the oxygen to the top of the bottle, forming a protective layer between the wine and oxygen, therefore preventing the wine from mixing with the oxygen and oxidising.

How to use Longitude Wine Preserve:

1. Attach diffuser and tube to nozzle

2. Insert diffuser into wine bottle, just above the level of remaining wine

3. Depress nozzle for 1-3 seconds

4. Seal bottle immediately with screw cap or good quality bottle stopper

5. The flavour and bouquet of the wine will be preserved for several days or even weeks (depending on how often the bottle is opened).

TIPS:

1. Use a little extra gas if the bottle is more than half empty.

2. Use more gas each time bottle is opened and ensure bottle is completely sealed with a screw cap or good quality bottle stopper (not a cork).

3. Longitude Wine Preserve can also be used to preserve port, cognac, dessert wine and fruit. You can prevent fruit such as apples and pears from going brown by placing chopped up fruit on plate, covering with cling film and applying a squirt of Longitude under the cling wrap.

Each canister contains enough gas to preserve at least 25 bottles of wine (think of all the money you'll save by not having to throw out half-finished bottles of wine!).

Great product - I'm astounded that this stuff DOES actually work! You've saved me from throwing out lots of bottles of wine. I'm also not afraid to open something decent mid-week now, as I know I can still enjoy it the next day. (Posted on 4/30/2014)
