Nancy Leigh is a prolific flowerer, with stunning large pale pink blooms.
You will receive 2 x African Violet leaf cuttings, 'Nancy Leigh', that can be grown into plants. All of these varieties are well-bred, beautiful violets that strike easily in a loose, soil-free potting mix.
What will this African Violet look like?: Please refer to picture of flower - this is what plant/plants from the leaf cuttings will look like when they are an adult plant (although sometimes the flower colour of adult plant can vary slightly and be lighter or darker).
What is the variety of this African Violet?: This variety is called 'Nancy Leigh'. This is a standard African Violet with double white large star/pink-blushed eye. Foliage is medium green, plain, ovate shape.
How will my leaves be sent?: Leaf cuttings will be wrapped in damp tissue and carefully packed in a small box to avoid damage in transit. Cuttings will be sent on a Monday and Tuesday to ensure quickest transit time.
How do I grow my leaf cutting?:
1. Remove moist tissue from the end of the stem.
2. With the front of the leaf facing up, ensure that the end of the stem is cut on a 45 degree angle, leaving 3cm of stalk.
3. Insert leaf stalk into potting mix (ideally use soil-free African Violet potting mix, which drains easily and decreases the risk of root rot). Leaf should be inserted into the soil on an angle so that approx. 1.5cm of the leaf stalk is covered by the potting mix. Baby leaves grow from the bottom of the leaf stalk, so the deeper you plant the stalk the longer it will take for leaves to come through.
4. Place cuttings in a warm, well-lit position (but not in direct sunlight). After approx. 6-8 weeks baby leaves will emerge from the soil surrounding the mother leaf. When new leaves are approx. 5cm high, plantlets can be separated and re-potted. At least one baby plant will grow from the “mother” leaf.
When will my plant be sent?: Package will be sent early in the week (Mon/Tues) to ensure quickest transit time so they don't get stuck in the post over the weekend.
Due to Australian quarantine restrictions, unfortunately we’re not able to send leaves or plants to NT, TAS and WA.
